Opera Mini apk problem parsing the package

Trying to revive a Samsung 10.1 inch tablet I downloaded the Opera Mini package. When installing, the error is: Problem with parsing the package (actually the error is in dutch: Er is een probleem met parseren van het pakket).
The system: Samsung GT-P5110, Android 4.1.2.
Reason for downloading the android package on an SD Card using a pc is that the internet / wifi connection is bad. Google Play and the Chrome browser complain about certificate errors, probably because this tablet does not have uptodate browser certificates. Even the update feature does not work.
I chose Opera Mini because it should run on almost all old android phones, even on older versions than Android 4.1.2. And bringing the apk on the sd card solves the download problem.
The tablet has a file manager app, so navigating to the apk on the sd card was easy, and double-clicking the apk indeed offered the option to install it.
If someone has a clue on how to fix the parsing error, I would be really grateful.
