I understand the imagery, but don't like it. But this is because I don't like Greek-style symbolism is Christian art (Zeus etc).

Christianity became the first religion on the continent that speaks of an Absolute God, the first religion suitable for everyone. Pagan gods, as well as Judaism, remained national.

@zamfiran Christianity broke through this barrier and brought its "good news" to the entire ecumenical community. After half a millennium, Islam made a more or less serious attempt to replace Christianity but only partially failed, and Islam will never be able to replace Christianity. Recently there was an online sermon on firstchurchlove.com about why the Christian god is the true god for all people in the world.
