Using Opera on a desktop with Windows 10. After downloading a file, when I click to open it from downloads it just downloads the file again (or creates a duplicate in downloads). Even when attempting to open a file previously downloaded and saved in another folder, it will not open the file from the folder but creates a duplicate file in downloads. I am now unable to open ANY file previously downloaded and saved in Opera, even in an unrelated browser like Edge!
Opera has killed my ability to work with files. Fix this bug or I will NEVER use Opera again!

That sounds like the file type you're opening is associated with Opera in Windows for some reason, so it just opens in Opera and it's a file type that Opera can't handle itself, so Opera just downloads it again.

In Windows settings, I'd goto "Apps", then "Default Apps", then "choose default apps by file types" to make sure the types you're downloading are associated with the correct program.

If that doesn't help, in Opera, goto the URL opera://about and take note of the "profile" path. Close Opera and rename that folder using Windows Explorer. Then, start Opera back up and test. If it works fine with that new profile, then something's wrong with your normal profile that you can investigate. Close down Opera, delete that new profile folder and rename the old one back and then investigate.
