can't sign in to ESPN account

Using Opera 12.17 I now find that even though I enter the correct user name and password I can not successfully sign in to my ESPN Insider account.
Other browsers (IE, Chrome, and The World) give me no problem in doing so.
Is anyone else familiar with this issue and is there a fix? -

I have had the same problem with ESPN.com over the last few days. Also using 12.17. I've tried different settings for cookies, browser identification, etc, but nothing has worked.

Ditto here with Google and Picasaweb, one of its subsidiaries. The sites keep telling me I'm not allowing cookies when I am, in fact, staring right at their cookies. So I can't log in, and must do so on Safari.
