Latest Opera Update breaks essential (Ctrl+Shift+Home/End) Windows shortcuts

This is driving me nuts!
As of 63.0.3368.71, when you start Opera the standard Ctrl+Shift+Home & Ctrl+Shift+End Windows shortcuts (to select everything until the start or end of text) stop working everywhere in Windows while Opera is running. Just to be sure, I confirmed that once Opera has exited those 2 shortcuts work again. It took me a while to figure it out, so it may have started earlier than 63.0.3368.71 but it definitely happens with that version. It's like Opera takes over those 2 shortcuts but doesn't do anything with it. I tried looking for them in the Opera settings and didn't find anything either.
Tried to disable all my extensions, same result.

Yeah, there are some crazy things going on with Opera and keyboard shortcuts lately. Maybe https://forums.opera.com/post/181232 will help.

@burnout426 I found out what was the matter. In Opera GX, we can control keyboard shortcuts in the built-in Video Handler extension in opera://settings/keyboardShortcuts, enable them globally or only in Opera. In Opera Stable, Beta and Developer there is no such possibility, that's the problem.

@johnd78 Cool, I see. Does setting global to "false" for each of them in the Preferences file work for stable, so you don't have to delete the entries if you don't want to?

This works for Beta and Developer. In Stable, problems with Ctrl + Shift + Del, after restarting, the value "false" returns to "true" if Ctrl + Shift + Del is also assigned to delete the history.

Confirming that ending the "Extension: Video handler" process in the Opera task manager fixes this, at least until restart. Any side effect in doing that? Seems YouTube still works.

The built-in "Video handler" extension is used to work "Opera Video pop-out". Without "Extension: Video handler" process, this function does not work. If you do not need this feature, there is no need to worry.

Workaround: Register all global shortcuts that you don't want Opera to have yourself, for example using https://sourceforge.net/projects/hotkeyp/. Then start Opera, finally unregister your shortcuts.

In a clean install of Opera 65.0.3443.0 Developer, this problem is fixed, but only for a clean one. Let's wait for the next fix.

This issue must be fixed ASAP because CTRL+SHIFT+END/HOME/PGUP/PGDOWN keys are vital for any developer. I really hope that 64 major update will include the fix.

It you can't wait, see https://forums.opera.com/post/181232 where you can fix it yourself really quickly using JSONedit. Might be a good thing to do as a fix for repairing existing installs might take longer.

@burnout426 The opera fix for a clean profile is about the same. It's safe.

omg, finally! This was driving me nuts too, never really had time to investigate this issue properly, at least now I know what caused it. A really annoying bug.

- open Opera 63.0.3368.94
- open several other browser (eg Chrome, IE)
- try to use ctrl-shift-delete combo to call the clear history window
Result:
- the combo doesn't work for Opera
- Opera locks the combo for all the other opened browsers, and this is critical.

I have been experiencing problems with Word, Excel and other apps when trying to select text from the insertion point to the end or beginning of the file with keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+end. At first I thought it had to do with customization of Word and other MS Office apps, but now I have finally been able to isolate the problem: the shortcut does not work when Opera is running and as soon as I close it, text selection goes back to normal.
My opera version is 63.0.3368.94 and I just disinstalled and reinstalled it, to no avail. Any help with this would be appreciated because sometimes I have to work with Office apps and Opera at the same time and the glitch is really annoying., Thanks in advance

Solution!
Settings > Advanced > Reset Settings > "Restore settings to their original defaults"
Worked for me, version 63.0.3368.94

@108ka108
This absolutely works! After "Restore settings to their original defaults" you have to close Opera. You can then reopen it.
Thanks @108ka108!
