@stefanvd: I'd rather that any response to my feedback be posted here, so that other people can consider it if they want to download the extension or not.

We take all feedback and suggestions very seriously. The Turn Off the Lights is a free and Open-Source browser extension. This browser extension is built up with feedback from the users. And with the use of the support page, which will help us better understand what other browser extensions you are using in the background. And what Opera version number you are using, and what Turn Off the Lights browser extension version you are using now.The Turn Off the Lights browser extension should not delay anything. As it only dims the web page when you use the default settings. Try to reset the Turn Off the Lights settings on the Turn Off the Lights Options page.
- Click right on the gray lamp button and choose the menu item "Options"
- The Turn Off the Lights Options page show up in a new tab
- Click on the "Advanced Options" tab, and scroll to the bottom of the web page
- Next, click on the big button "Reset the Turn Off the Lights settings"
- And restart your Opera web browser

We are happy to help you over there.Thanks,

When I open the plugin on some sites, the whole screen goes black. Video included. What is the solution?

@spraylexmania Turn Off the Lights browser extension is an accessibility tool. A small video player is cozy to watch while the background is dimmed. Also, there is no bright white light shining on your face.

@gliceriojr Yes. On all websites.
In the Turn Off the Lights Options page, you can enable the Night Mode feature. And you can customize it to your personal Dark Mode theme. That is for the background, text, hyperlink, and button color.For more information see this YouTube video tutorial:

Hi @sierran7
It is normal that all Opera extensions do not work on the Opera-addons page.
That is the same for other web browsers too, such as Google Chrome on the Chrome Web Store, and Microsoft Edge on the Edge add-ons gallery. That is for security reasons that is set by the web browser vendor itself.If you have any questions or need help, please use the support page at

Is the Opera addon abandoned? Because the last update seems to be from 3 years ago, while the Chrome one seems to be still maintained. Should I uninstall the Opera addon and install Chrome equivalent instead?

The both Turn Off the Lights browser extensions (Google Chrome and Opera) use the same Manifest V2 engine.
However, a big update is coming for Google Chrome and Opera, that to Manifest V3. That is available in beta in the Chrome Web Store.If you have any questions or need help, please use the support page at
