Opera is forcing japanese google as my search engine. help.

Hello.
basically I live in Japan. Even though my com[uter location is set to the USA, Opera set all suggestions including the google default search engine as in Japan (google.co.jp), which is honestly a hassle, because then the language is japanese and the priority os search results are all in japanese, even if i search everything in english. I just want my search engine to be the goo old google.com
making a custom engine in this case doesnt work because then i cant set it as default, so no luck there. i appreciate any solution, i just want opera to stop forcing my location on me. -

Exit Opera. Go to the folder
%appdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable. Open the file Local State in a text editor. Modify the 2-letter country code twice in the following line,"location":{"country":"GB","country_from_server":"GB"}. Save changes.
