Opera GX Not Opening

@realratroller In Windows Explorer (File Explorer), goto "C:\Users". In addition to your normal user account folder, do you see one that says "Administrator"? You shouldn't. But, if you do, go into it and go into its "AppData" folder. In there, look under "Local" and "Roaming". If you see an "Opera Software" folder, delete it. Also, in the "Local" folder, in the "Programs" folder, if there's an "Opera GX" folder, delete it.
Then, I'd manually clean Opera from Windows and reinstall Opera for all users using the offline installer.
Then, make sure to never use the "run as administrator" option for Opera. It's not needed. And, make sure to leave launcher.exe and opera.exe compatibility to default. You shouldn't have to set it to Windows 8 compatibility. After Opera is reinstalled, right-click on launcher.exe and opera.exe in the install folder, and opera.exe in the latest version folder, and goto "properties". Make sure compatibility is at the default.
Then, if Opera GX still doesn't load, try the --disable-gpu option mentioned in an earlier post.
If Opera and or the installer messes up still, create a new user account on Windows (local only, not tied to a Microsoft Account), change its type to "Administator", log out of your account, log into the new account, run the installer there and install for all users, and try Opera there. (Still don't use the "Run as" option to start Opera and the installer.
If things work in the new Windows user account, you know something if messed up with your regular user account.

@burnout426 Thank You So Much - This has been a life saver!! I'm so so so glad that a random person was able to help! It was, infact, the 'Opera Software' in roaming! I was about to just give up, but now it works! Thanks, once again!!

@burnout426 also my setup did this all the time, there was only one time I can recall that the download actually finished.
And would just sit at this for days. If I waited. Also, I did everything except download it offline because I tried forever to figure out how I would download it like that. It just sits like this the whole time.
also, I can't delete it. -

@burnout426 I attempted this and low and behold, I don't even have "launcher.exe" in my Opera GX folder. The re-install screen is frozen on "Installing for current user" and the browser opens with the animation and sound but either immediately closes or gives me a blank white screen. I'm unsure what to do next.

@burnout426 To answer your questions and some new info also
OS: Windows 11 Bit:64
also, long story short, I reinstalled it with the same installer. Andโฆ it opens, but I have to spam open it, and it fixed it's not a white screen nor not showing items now it works fine (I think)
I restarted everything and will have to make it back, but what really is annoying is that it won't open first try, bugs me. -

@realratroller Okay. The offline installer you want is https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera_gx/85.0.4341.51/win/Opera_GX_85.0.4341.51_Setup_x64.exe. Download it with another browser just for good measure.
Then, manually clean Opera from your system and reinstall using that installer except that instead of:
Delete "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Opera Software". Delete "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Sotware".
do:
Rename "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Opera Software". Rename "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Sotware".
for now.
Then if you still have problems, see https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/comments/j5fstq/opera_opera_gx_not_opening_or_opening_and_closing/.

@burnout426 I did everything you mentioned above and my installer is stuck on this and the browser still opens and closes immediately.

@michaelk123 As a test, totally shut down Steam (open the Windows task manager and make sure there are no Stream processes running too) and try the installer again to see if it finishes. Also, test if opening Opera GX behaves differently with Steam totally closed. It shouldn't help, but it only takes a second to try.

@burnout426 Nope. Didn't do anything. Still stuck on 99% and the app still won't open. I guess I'll have to just use Opera and download Discord separately. Oh well.

@michaelk123 Did you try the --disable-gpu command-line switch too?
For regular Opera and Discord, goto the URL
opera://flags/#sidebar-site-panel
, enable the flag, restart Opera, click the 3 dots at the bottom of the sidebar, scroll down to "Custom Site Panels", and addhttps://discord.com/channels/@me
as a panel. -

@burnout426 I did. It flashes open and closes immediately.
I will add discord now, thanks. -

@michaelk123 Any difference if you disable Windows Defender's realtime protection for a bit?

Do you see logs in "C:\Windows\Temp\.opera\Opera Installer" and "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Temp\.opera\Opera Installer"?
If so, you can look for the latest one by date that represents your last install attempt and post it here to see if there are any errors that you get that others don't. This might only help with the installer not finishing though and not running Opera GX unless there's something important the installer doesn't get to do.

@michaelk123 Ok. The content-length errors are probably normal as I have those too.
The following doesn't look normal though, but the messages don't help.

Try this. Download my zip file (it's a standalone installation of Opera GX to test with), right-click the zip file, choose "extract all" and point to your desktop to extract the folder in it onto your desktop. Then, open the readme.txt, following directions and then launch its launcher.exe.
If that Opera GX runs no problem, it probably means that something really important isn't finishing for you when you run the installer. If that Opera GX doesn't run for you, we know it's something on your system as it runs fine for me.

@burnout426 It Worked!!!! Ok so how do I make sure this good thing doesn't get ruined in the future?
