"Always Show Menu" Gone- and Opera Keeps Exiting Fullscreen

I was greatly disappointed to find "Always Show Menu" no longer an option; I've been using Opera—intermittently—every since it first came out (I was working on my Computer Science degree before there was a public internet), and always have all my browsers set up this way.
My Opera browser won't stay fullscreen. Every time I download an image, it exits fullscreen display mode.
The only good thing about Opera I can see now is the integrated VPN.
