saving snapshots like other files

When I save a file or download something, I am asked where I want that file to be saved. After that the next file will be saved to the folder I chose until I select another folder.
Why can't snapshots be saved the same way instead of always wanting to be saved to "desktop".
Of course I can save to another folder but sure enough the next snapshot five seconds later will want to go to the desktop again.
There must be a way for snapshot to be handled like all other downloads.
