Change default search parameters?

How do I change the default search engine other than to the four pre-selected ones? Manage Search Engines allows me to add one, but not as a default, and I cannot edit the default parameters.
The reason is, my default preference is to only search over the last year. Just add &tbs=qdr:y to the Google submission. Every other browser seems to allow this, but I'm stymied by how to do it in Opera 22.
