No longer able to type in foreign languages in Opera via IME

Unsure of what happened, but I am suddenly no longer able to type in foreign languages in Opera via IME. It is still working fine in all other browsers and applications.
Switching to a different IME input language previously would allow me to immediately start typing in that language. Now, the language will switch successfully in the system tray, but only produce the default English alphabet when typing in Opera.
I ran the troubleshooter for IME and reinstalled Opera, to no avail.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
