Can you disable Opera autoupdate

There's nothing in the GUI, but if you launch a shortcut with the switch --disable-update, updates will be disabled.
For example, the target in the shortcut properties would be:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\launcher.exe" --disable-update
You can also create an environment variable(google it) named OPERA_AUTOUPDATE_DISABLED that will also disable updates. I don't think the value inside the variable matters, but I put the same thing as the name and it worked fine for me.
You can also rename the file that checks for updates, but that's not something opera created to disable them, it will simply fail.
The file is opera_autoupdate.exe located in the folder with the version number inside your opera installation directory.
I only tried those with v20, but the behavior shouldn't have changed since. You can make sure by checking in the about opera page, it will tell you updates are disabled.

Hi. I recently installed Opera at my workplace computer trying to find an alternative to my previous browser. I like a lot of things in Opera, but since I'm behind a corporative proxy, it's irritating to have to write my user and password every day for autoupdate. Besides, I hate to be forced to do something I do not want to (Google is an expert in that). Every browser should have an option to disable autoupdate. Thanks!

+1 for option to disable auto update using easy way for users in options. Options for updating is standard in any good software products.
