I've tried repeatedly to import my bookmarks from Edge to Opera without success. I've even gone so far as to uninstall Opera and then download it to an off-line installer to see if that might make a difference. The latest message I receive is that Opera was unable to import due to the fact that the Edge browser was open which was not the case. Any ideas?

@coffeelover Confirmed here. But the problem cause isn't Opera, it's Microsoft (again!). Edge runs in the background on "stock" Win10 systems, and even if you turn it off in Background Apps, it will be prelaunched again upon startup. Presumably, this is to make it start up and run faster (a handy trick, if the browser maker is also the OS maker?!). To kill it off (and keep it killed), you have to both turn it off in Background Apps and disable its Prelaunch via Group Policy or a registry change. For the necessary steps, see here: https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_stop_microsoft_edge_from_running_in_the_background.html

For your purposes, temporarily killing it via Background Apps might suffice to get the Opera importing done.

Sadly the first method did not work nor did "ending task" with Task Mgr. I'm unwilling to go into the register and without the bookmarks I can't see myself making much use of Opera everyday. I suppose MS meant well... nevertheless, this is frustrating.

I was finally able to get my bookmarks by exporting them to a file and then importing that file. Someone suggested this a ways back but I forgot to try it. Thanks, Everyone.
