whatsapp not uploading images or files

hi,
for some reason whatsapp extension suddenly stopped uploading photos and files.
the buttons are there, when you press them, windows explorer opens normally and lets you select the file(s) but then nothing happens.
I am still receiving photos in the chat. just can't send myself
