Youtube videos constantly buffering.

Every time I try to watch a Youtube video it constantly buffers, with "stats for nerds" often showing a 50% frame drop.
I do not get any buffering if I watch the same videos on Chrome or Firefox.
I have tried hardware acceleration both on and off, it makes no difference. I also have the "Youtube no buffer" extension but doesn't seem to make any difference.
Is there a solution to this buffering, if not I will have to consider changing to ff or Chrome as my browser of choice.
