In the previous version for Linux Ubuntu 1604, opera-stable_54.0.2952.46_amd64.deb, there was a system window frame, window controls (close-expand-collapse) were on the left, but not everything worked correctly. Video on some portals and etc.
Updated to opera version-stable_56.0.3051.99_amd64.deb, those bugs that were on the former, with the same video, fixed. However, this system frame is missing. Tabs shrunk. In General on me-so not very.
Solved the same situation in Yandex.browser, through the inclusion of browser: / / flags, item - System windows controls
In the Opera, apparently something else is responsible for the system representation. Can't find. Can who knows?

As of opera 55, opera uses csd (client side decorations) which can not be disabled by any means. There is no command line switch or some parameter in opera://flags that would do the job, so we are all waiting for the devs to do something...
If you want to see more on the subject, check my thread here
        https://forums.opera.com/topic/28146/opera-55-getting-rid-of-that-ugly-csd/

and if you are on gnome with compiz as a window manager, you can try what is mentioned here
        https://forums.opera.com/topic/28344/new-lack-of-opera-menu-bar-is-unusable/8

All the above apply to all branches of opera, ie stable, beta and developer versions.
