My first thought would be a corrupted Preference fileโjust deleting Opera wouldn't delete that. I'd try moving the Opera preferences file (com.operasoftware.Opera.plist) out of ~/Library/Preferences/ (Hold down Alt while clicking on "Go" menu in Finder and choose Library ) onto the desktop then opening Opera. It will create a new Preference file.
If it opens then, you'll have to reset all your preferences. If it doesn't, I'd then delete Opera, re-download, then turn off your anti-virus while re-installing.
The other thing would be to use AppDelete to delete Opera and all its ancillary files wherever they're stored, download a new installer and start again from scratch.
But I'd first try with the Preferences.

After updating to Mojave Opera crashes immediately on my family member's account on my mac. On mine it works fine. I tried removing the preferences and reinstalling Opera but it did not work.

@trickst3r Same problem here. Opera only seems to work for the user that installs it, even when the install is for all users

@vanyacrow
Replicated online incremental and fresh install only working for user that installed it on macOS 10.13.6 so used admin user to trash Opera 56.0 bundle followed by trying offline installer => https://www.opera.com/download/get/?partner=www&opsys=MacOS for copy of Opera 56.0.3051.36 bundle into Applications folder, which works for a non-admin user.
