Extension Bar keeps maximizing-how to stop

I have 5 tabs open and the extension bar is minimized in each of them. When I close out a tab and it reverts to the next tab the extension bar opens. How do I stop it from doing this? Thank you.

When I have more than 1 tab open and the extensions bar is closed, when I close a tab and it reverts to the next tab the Extensions Bar opens up. How do I keep it closed?
