Importing from Firefox problems

I still work with my old XP laptop because it is loaded with links and software that is still of use to me, with Firefox pulling the plug on its support for XP (esr channel) (I do understand) I have been looking for a browser that can still cope as many sites say no Java no luck.
I have Avast antivirus (free) which also gave me Safezone browser which I find of course is a variant of Google and Opera which uses the same core. Out of them Opera gives me the a widest link with many of my places I visit, and is faster than the Safezone browser which has a bank mode in it.

While the Avast has managed to import my links and passwords Opera is unable to do this is there some security block that makes Opera think it has done it, but is unable to, some advice would be of help with this issue.
