How do I remove Google as default search?

I switched to Opera, Protonmail and DuckDuckGo so I can minimize the use of Google products as much as possible. However, I do not want to have Google as my default search engine on the Opera homepage. Is there a way to remove this?

assuming that by homepage you mean the speed dial, you can't edit that search engine, you can only disable it (hide it)

to hide it:

1. go to 'opera://settings/?search=hide%20search%20box'
2. press 'Hide search box'
