Two annoying problems with opera 36.00 (for XP)

Hi, great browser. Firefox was my preffered browser for a long time but youtube is proving difficult. Opera 36 worked out the box so I want to use it instead.
However, two issues.
The first is text appears unreadable on some pages see screenshot attached. If I zoom in to 110% the text is readable, at 100% not.
The second issue is I access the web via a unsecure wifi network. The browser does not allow me to see pages with https prefix. If I changed manually to http all is ok, the "This site can’t provide a secure connection" goes away.
How do I fix these problems?
