Add-ons don't work on my Nexus 7 after downloading

Using opera on Nexus 7 (1st gen) and it will download add-ons but when the download completes the add-on file won't open or install. I tried repeatedly to download a number of different add-ons and none of them will open or install. What am I doing wrong?

Add-ons are not compatible with any version (except the very old 12.00 beta) of Opera for Android, as well as the fact that Opera for Android does not support Add-ons (again, except the very old 12.00 beta).

Not just any beta version, it has to be 12.00 beta specifically.
Here you go, with lot of additional info (which you should read, especially the caveats). And do bear in mind that it is old (2012), and also an alpha/beta dev build, or you could even call it an experiment.
