Clicking on a link from apps like Mail, Messages launches Opera with the new tab but nothing happens after link

  • I had to copy paste the link into the address bar

    Clicking on an opera notification also has the same issue (For e.g., clicking a desktop facebook notification opens opera with new tab but nothing happens after that

    If I change the default browser to Safari, the links work perfectly. Is this an issue with Opera?

    Did anyone face issues like this?

    Macbook Pro running macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)
    2.7 GHz Intel core i5, 8GB RAM
    Opera version: 51.0.2830.55
