Disable update notification for old version

I am using Opera 49 on an old Mac with OS 10.9 (yes, I know everything is out of date). Every hour or so, Opera 49 puts up a notice that an update is available. There is no update, at least as far as OS 10.9 is concerned. How can I stop the annoying notices? Opera does not appear in the list of applications under Notifications. I deleted the opera_autoupdate and opera_updateinstaller files, but that deletion had no effect.

To prevent autoupdate, use Terminal:
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true
