Speed Dial Opening Order

Is there a way to change the "tab opening order" in Speed Dial?
I've always had my speed dial arranged in the order I would like my tabs to be opened when middle clicked...Speed Dial 1, 2, 3, 4 would open starting from the left-most tab and continue consecutively to the right.
It seems that with v50 that was reversed...instead of opening the the latest middle-clicked tab on the far right it is opened next to the current tab.
When opening web pages from a Google search via middle-click they are correct (opening in the order which they were clicked from left to right).
I have searched through settings and flags to no avail.Any suggestions?

I want to see this answered, too. This is a behavior change to a long-established feature that many of us rely upon for daily use. If we cannot rely on the order of items in a speed dial group to direct the order of the tabs opened from that speed dial group then one of the most useful features of the speed dial is lost.
At least in a bookmark group I can prepend a numerical string to force a sorting order, though I guess with the speed dial's new behavior I could not even rely on the alpha-sort to guarantee open order.
