After a long time stuck with Firefox, I've returned to Opera 18, because FF became slow after the latest update again.
For speed I am OK with Opera as always.
But for the config, forget it, I missed the older versions for sure!
Some of good features are not available anymore or in the redesign phase.
I never remember I've entered into the :flag to enable/disable for any particular feature in the past. The settings was OK for every need that time.
I cannot believe that Bookmarks feature is hidden and so complicated, as well as importing them from other browsers is almost impossible.
Fortunately, I have some solutions, like LastPass and Xmarks, as well as Chrome extensions. I also cannot believe that so few Extensions and Apps are available same as in the past. Nothing changed except the useful available things are lost...
We have a saying "Exploring the America one more time does not really needed!". Look at the Firefox browser capability, and make the similar thing or alter or additions... Or say, hey people, do not use Opera anymore!
For example, opening a new tab has not any setting to open the same "Open a specific page or set of pages" I set already. It always open the first time the one I set and then the next tabs open the default Opera Speed Dial page.

Lastpass is an awesome solution. I can't understand why more people don't employ it. As you mention, it can be used to recover bookmarks by simply opening the LP vault and navigating to each of your password-protected sites then dragging and dropping them onto your QAB or into the folders that you've created with your QAB. 🙂

          Dear Sir,
          Thank you for your reply.
Please try the XMarks for your bookmarks. Very useful and a must for serious bookmarkers! 🙂
After an half-day config duration for Opera 18, I understand I cannot tame it. 🙂
Now, I am so happy with Chrome ver. 31.xxx. Unfortunately, I have uninstalled the Opera 18, and configured the Chrome in 25 mins!
I am really sad to leave this browser once I have used with liking...
          Best
