I cannot delete Cookies and Site Data. When I delete entries from the list Preferences/Privacy&Security/All Cookies and Site data by either pressing Delete all or cherry-pick-delete them, when I close the list and reopen it, ALL ENTRIES ARE BACK!
This is a huge, immense security concern, since that means that my local storage is still filled with identifiers that I never authorized and that are used to track me against my will.

      Running Opera 49.0.2725.39.

My experience was the same as yours running the same version of Opera. What I did was to change the settings for cookies to <Keep local data only until I quit my browser>, quit & relaunched Opera and the cookies were gone.

Yes, that works. This is the workaround I am using right now. Still this is latest Opera and this should be considered a major bug, since it poses a real threat to privacy.

Also give a look at "History Eraser" addon. Just to be sure for instance:

            Few key features:

            • Instant removal with one-click
            • View, Edit, Backup and Delete Opera history
            • Clear download history
            • Empty the cache
            • Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data
            • Clear saved passwords
            • Clear saved form data
            • Ability to choose time period
            • Many more Extra features! such as a self privacy test and developer mode for the hard to find unwanted items

            Good Luck

I am using the E-Cleaner Forget Button. I wanted to check the reliability of the addon and this is how I found out, that not even Opera itself is able to delete those entries. E-Cleaner Forget Button also DOES NOT DELETE ANYTHING.

This is so super strange, I tell you. Please, can someone try this out and confirm my findings? It's just absurd. In times where this is the most important feature if you care at all for privacy and your rights as a person, this should be making so much more people mad!

Try with a clean profile, maybe your current one it's corrupted.

@makiu767 To chime in for a second: The best feature of all is missing from almost all cleaner addons: whitelist. Delete all and everything except from site X and site Y. Only beloved cookie manager on firefox (sadly not quantum) had this 😛 Interestingly enough, there was an issue on github for E-Cleaner for a whitelist. The Dev said he can't put it in, because the Chromium API doesn't have this feature and rebuilding it locally would be too expensive.
