Opera VPN unusable for Australians?

I've seen some forums on here about problems with the VPN. But usually it's people who had it working fine to begin with then experienced issues later. For me, it has been unusably slow since day one and I have to think that it has something to do with Australia being too far from the servers used despite optimal location selected.
Whether i'm right or not, if there is anyway to fix this and make it at least usable then that would be appreciated. I don't expect it to be as fast as it would be without using the VPN but I would like it to actually be usable!

I'm in the US and Opera's "VPN" (proxy server) is so unreliable that I never use it.

Just in theory, could you try another VPN provider, even a free version with another user profile (So your data wouldn't be compromised) and see if it is slow with other VPN providers as well. Also, is your internet connection stable and what are the speeds?

I had a very good experience with Opera during my stay in Australia. It was about two months back when I traveled to Australia for a business trip and in my free time I was actually using the VPN to streaming beIN sports to watch football matches. The only problem I had faced was with the speed. For that I had to switch to different servers and it worked fine. I would highly recommend Opera as it is a good solution for any kind of VPN use, however, if you want to download torrents in Australia, then I would say that try some other VPNs as it is not as effective as expected. For Netflix also, you may find some issues with the VPN, so I had to switch to NordVPN for that after reading a detailed guide on AU VPN here: https://www.reviewsdir.com/best-australia-vpn/
Though the guide doesn't cover Opera VPN, but there are options that can be useful if you are a power use of a VPN.
