Why do we have to see Google front and centre when opening Opera?

There are still a few people left on Earth that do not want to have anything to do with Google ( or the CIA, NSA, FBI and all the other spooks).
Is it possible to remove the Google tag or are they a big sponsor of Opera?

You can turn that off. Click the icon at the top right of the Speed Dial and uncheck "Search Box".
