Opera pages crashing immediately from app opening

I have just started using Opera and I like some aspects of it.
However, any page I try to access crashes, even when the browser first starts up. I cannot get on the web at all with this browser.
I have installed a new copy yesterday, which I was told to do by the browser. I am on version 45.0 for Mac.

Anyone know what might be the problem?
