      Hello,
I am using Opera 12.17 and its RSS reader. After connecting, Opera rss reader check & download UP to 20 recently posts from every source. My question is: Is it possible to set download more new posts from one source? - When I am diconnected for several days and web is updated often, download only last twenty posts doesn't cover all missed news. Is there a way (via ini files or so) to change it? For example, to 100 posts?
...I'm not sure if it's a matter of rss reader, rss protocol or rss servers...

When first subscribing or when checking for updates, Opera should fetch however many posts (that haven't already been fetched by Opera) that are in the source of the feed page on the server *at that time*.

What you're seeing is that the source of the feed page itself on the server only contains N amount of recent posts. It's up to the website on how many of the older posts they want to retain and for how long.

So, what this means for you and Opera (and any other local RSS reader) is that you have to keep Opera open all the time and connected to the internet so that it can pick up and fetch the new articles in the feed page before they disappear from the feed page. And, for feed pages that update very frequently, you'll want to go into the properties of the feed in Opera and set the update interval as quick as the server will allow (5 minutes for example).

There's no other way around this issue, in this situation.

Now, if you have a remote RSS reader provider where the server is always checking your feeds and then you fetch from that in Opera, things would work how you want it. There are some server scripts that can fetch rss feed articles and turn them into IMAP messages where you can then use IMAP in Opera to see the articles as emails. But, that's all advanced stuff and I'm not sure what services that are out there that might provide that sort of thing.

          • Yes, I know that it primary depends on server/web platform (for example wordpress) where set maximum number of post. - But Opera always downloads max 20 post - regardless source/domain - It is really strange that for every of my 45 rrs channels it downloads maximum 20 latest post. - Maybe all rss servers use same settings (20 posts) but I thought it wasnt probable - I thought there was another limit in rss reader which can be modified...
I cannot be connected non-stop, so I have check all pages where i get 20 posts also "manually" 😞

          Well, thanks for quick answer.

I subscribed to the feed for this page and Opera fetched 25. So, it's fetching more than 20 for that one at least.

              "I subscribed ... and Opera fetched 25..."

              • I see. Same here. So probably all my rss channels use same rss-platform or at least same rss-setting.

OK, thank you both for help.
