Can they? I have lots of nested bookmarks and this way I can easily navigate through the SD folders

They can't... No sub-folders in Speed Dial.

Too bad. I was just getting used to SD folders, and the idea that they could replace my bookmarks. I have too many bookmarks that are nested inside folders of other bookmarks. To give each their own SD folder would litter my start page.

I used to have nested folders, what I did was to organize my bookmarks better, categorizing better, deleting some useless links... So I got rid of the nested folders, moving the bookmarks inside them to the parent folder or another folder where it fit better. I don't mind casually scrolling in the folders where I have more than 16 items (maybe more than that will fit in your screen at once), sometimes I just type part of the Speed Dial item name/URL in the address field to access my "bookmarks".

If you save many pages to come back to later or use the SD like sessions (right-click tab bar -> save as Speed Dial folder), I think the visual experience in the Speed Dial or Stash can be good to quickly recognize the page you were on whereas the classic list with only titles and favicon or the legacy sessions done a worse job at that.

At this point, I'm paring down my bookmarks and re-organizing them, so that I don't need nested folders. Looks good up till now, we'll see how it goes.
