Does Opera crash without recovering the session often?

So after many years, I've been trying out Opera again. Today I opened the app on the Mac, the little dialog concerning battery life comes up, and as soon as I clicked on it, it crashes, and my session is not only lost, but unrecoverable, which puts me into a fit of silent rage. The app claims it's disabled my extensions, but I didn't have extensions installed.
Does this happen often? I don't feel like becoming part of a debugging effort losing several hours of browsing and organizing pages.
I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5 and Opera 41.0.2353.46.
