Password masking

Hi,
Normally I don't have an issue when logging on to websites through Opera. But one particular banking site requires me to choose a digit shown in a list for 2 dropdown boxes, so 2 entries are needed. As I choose the correct digit, instead of it being masked (as an asterisk) which is what happens with my other browser, it is shown as the actual digit. When that happens login fails. I don't see what I can do to alter this behaviour, which does not seem to occur on other websites.
Any suggestions please?
