can't run Opera Mini simulator on OS X

  • I'm trying to use the Opera Mini Simulator at to test websites on OS X.

In either Chrome's or Firefox's (current, stable/release version of each) add-ons manager, I have the Java Applet Plug-in 14.9.0 installed and enabled.

In Terminal, I can confirm I have Java on my system:

    which java --> /usr/bin/java

java -version --> java version "1.6.0_65"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

But when I hit I just see "Missing Plug-in."

Why doesn't this work? I guess it's required to have MicroEMU on the client system as well? Opera's link to MicroEMU goes to a domain-park page; I found it on and put it in my path (/usr/local/bin), but that didn't solve it.

  • How did you start microemulator?

Do you have the latest jar file of Opera Mini?

Go to select your Opera Mini version, hitw View Downloalink, download opera-mini-latest-advanced-en.jad and opera-mini-latest-advanced-en.jar.

May be you will use and for latest Opera Mini 8.

On my emu only 7.1 worked.

Did you store the opera-mini-7.1.32052-advanced-en.jar and ...jad (or newer) into microemulator's subfolder /apps?

    1. In Shell with java -jar microemulator.jar
    2. After start of micromeulator select File -> Open Midlet file
    3. Select opera-mini-7.1.32052-advanced-en.jar
    4. Select Start in Opera Mini emulated phone
    5. Opera Mini should start now
