Flash installation

I am currently running Opera 39.0 on Debian Linux Jessie. I have downloaded the flash player module libpepflashplayer.so. The help screen for installing this, http://www.opera.com/docs/linux/plugins/install/#flash, states I should copy this file to /usr/lib/opera/plugins or to $HOME/.local/lib/opera/plugins. Neither directory exists. The first location does not have /usr/lib/opera and the second does not have $HOME/.local/lib. Creating the recommended paths and copying the module to those directories has no affect. How do I get Opera to see the module?

Hi @thealdrich, it's the link with instruction for the old version of Opera (based on the Presto engine, and the NPAPI Flash plugin). The simplest way to install the PEPPER version of the plugin for the Opera 39, is as follows: open a terminal window, and execute the below command:
sudo aptitude install pepperflashplugin-nonfree browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash
