12.18: javascript causing wikepedia and other malfunctions

I have discovered that it's the JavaScript that is causing wikipedia and other websites that used to work to be locking up, load slow etc. Disabling JavaScript works but also makes some extensions like image previewer not to work. Anybody have any experience with this? Perhaps some code for the JavaScript folder?

Personally I've bitten the bullet and stopped using Opera 12 for javascript heavy sites like Facebook and YouTube, it works but is crawlingly slow and prone to all sorts of malfunctions.
I still use 12.18 for 90% of my web surfing, but it has to be accepted that for an increasing number of sites it just doesn't perform any more as it should do.

I have just tried disabling javascript and it doesn't make any difference. Why do you think it is a javascript issue ? What have you discovered ?
I have also trouble in my experience using Wikipedia with Opera 12.18. -

I have also trouble in my experience using Wikipedia with Opera 12.18.Did you reload after disabling javascript. If it still does not work for you then I supposed the source of your problem is different from mine and you should try a clean install of opera which is a pain now since opera sync does not work anymore to back up your bookmarks, etc.
But it makes a big difference, another example on my machine is amazon's home page takes from 30 to 60 seconds to fully load with javascrip enabled and only about 2 seconds disabled. Of course some functions won't work, like the dropdown when hover over the "my account" link. Have to click on it. How I started to do this is wells fargo would lock up and can't scroll or do anything else.
What I should do is to try to make an item to add to my right click menu to toggle javascript

laingman, go over to the Wikipedia thread and try some of the specific links mentioned there. No JS will not help you.

I clicked some of those links, those sites don't load at all. This is a different problem from what I have which is site loads but locks up and can't scroll or click any links, and also other sites get buggy too until I close the wikipedia tab. For my problem disable javascript works great.
I am surprised that wikipedia should have these problems tho, I always thought it was one of the lightest sites around.

I'm not having any problems here with wikipedia on 12.18 with javascript enabled.
