It's rubbish isn't it. I have no idea what Opera devs were thinking when they changed that. It was much better before with images.

This would be nice if it at least gave you the option. Before the change all my school-related links showed the thumbnails with the school's color scheme (green/white). Now any new one that I add (ex. school email) shows some random color (in this case purple) and can't be changed even if I erase and re-add it. If I add any of the old ones again they won't show the thumbnails but some other colors (blue and hot pink in this case). It would be nice for consistency to have all my school stuff look similar, especially if none of my other links are green. This was easy to do/automatic with the thumbnails because all the school websites use the university color (green) for their color scheme.
It would be very nice if newer updates allowed for an option to use the thumbnail for a link again, or at least be able to change the background color of the new solid blocks with the names.

... or simply use the website's favicon on the speed dial page.
I get a random and incoherent mix of favicons, the website's name from the url or the first letter of the websites name on my speed dial page. Very messy.
The power is in the option to choose. Good software provides comprehensive user options and choice... as well as doing what it's supposed to do properly!
