VPN and the Private Window

Saw the VPN feature on the Opera developer and had to check it out. It seems fast and well thought out with the exception that it does not show up when using a Private Window. It could be also that the VPN button might just not be showing up on the Private Window. Has anyone gotten it working?

I installed Opera developer v38.0.2205.0 on Windows 10 64-bit a few days ago, and also noted the VPN symbol is not displayed left of the URL after a page load is complete, when the browser is used in Private Mode.
But it appears the VPN feature works in Private Mode, even though the symbol does not appear. As long as VPN functionality is toggled ON in Menu / Settings / Privacy & Security / VPN / Enable VPN, VPN functionality appears to work just fine when browsing to a web page that displays your VPN such as www whatisipaddress dot com , etc.

whoa, not so fast... as other users of have noted, Opera developer v38.0.2205.0 browser VPN functionality in combination with VPN service provider 'privatizes' your Local IP properly, but your Public IP remains very public!
confirm your Local IP and Public IP by loading test page at https://diafygi.github.io/webrtc-ips/

The VPN is indeed working in Private Mode too, but the VPN symbol is not showing there. You can try testing for yourself by using a website which checks your IP like https://ipleak.net/ in normal browsing mode and Private Mode.
