Why user agent can be set only globally?

I'd love to use Opera but it lacks a very important function.
The user agent can be set only globally which is huge disadvantage. Thus, there are domains I need in mobile version and another in the desktop version. Please adopt the Chrome approach where the user agent can be set for each page/domain which the browser remember for. -

Opera approach is more global killing desktop compatibility and replacing that with a more fluent mobile experience.
