If I click on settings/change default browser in Opera, it takes me to the System/Settings/DefaultApps window (or I can just go there myself).

Once there and I scroll down to Web Browser, it shows a grey square with a + sign in it. When I click on it, it shows me Opera (and other browsers). If I click on ANY of them it just returns to the grey square and the default is not changed. Is this normal or happening to anyone else?

Now every time I open Opera, it asks me if I want to make it my default. I have replied several times 'YES' and it took me to the defaults page where I still could not change the default. Even when I told it NOT to ask me anymore, it still asks every time! If I say 'NO' it goes on, but still asks me the next time.

Funny thing is that it seems that Opera IS now my default, but still keeps asking me.

I really think there is some problem in Windows 10, but Opera is being tricked and this is really annoying!

I usually fix this by reinstalling the browser. Then Windows 10 behaves.

I went to Control Panel and un-installed Opera first and then downloaded the latest version and installed it. When I clicked on the link from an e-mail referring to this message, Opera came up with no problems. I then closed it and clicked on the desktop link and it came up OK, but still asked me if I wanted to make it my default and went through all the previous motions and still keeps asking me every time I start Opera from the task bar or desktop. It seems to work fine, but I cannot get rid of the message or get Windows to acknowledge any changes to the default Web Browser.

I really think Opera is reacting to the Windows issue of not showing any default browser, so it just asks me again, even though I tell it not to show the message any more.

So, I am still in the dark and think it is some kind of problem with Windows. Incidentally, I see the same thing on the Default Photo Viewer - it always shows the gray box with the + sign and I cannot change that either.
