Retain pinned tabs between browsing sessions?

  • This was possible in Opera 12. I have tabs retained between browsing sessions in Opera 18 but haven't found the way to get them to stay pinned on browser restart. By pinned I am referring to the retained tabs reduced to icon size. Is it possible?

  • It works OK for me. I don't think there's any special setting for it. I use "Continue where I left of."

  • Ah, OK thanks. I am using "Open a specific page or set of pages" as I am often lazy about closing all other tabs when closing down and would prefer a clean start each time.

  • So is "continue where I left off" the only way to keep start pages pinned between sessions? I'm like Rafiki in that I don't want to close all my tabs before closing the browser, but I also don't want to wait for 50 tabs to load when I start.

Right-click on any tab, and select close all. The pinned tabs will not close.

Thanks for the suggested workaround, I wasn't fully clear though, my preferred startup session includes both pinned and unpinned tabs. Guess I'll have to try and change my workflow a bit if I decide to continue with this version of Opera as my secondary browser.

  • Same issue remains: with the option "Open a specific page or set of pages" there is no way to remember pinned tabs. This still would be handy to have a vast set of tabs a user always uses.

  • I found this issue to be kind of lame when I first came over to Opera. I still feel that way, but I've been getting by with the "continue where I left off" option, which is less than desirable. I haven't thought about it much, but now that someone else broached the subject, why has this not been remedied? It's little things like this that make the latest version seem kind of rinky dink.
