Way to recover bookmarks?

  • So, I've been using Opera at work for awhile, and today when I came in, I tried starting, and got an error with launcher.exe. Error Code 0xc0000022.

Not sure what that exactly means, but I'm kind of certain work decided to stop Opera use...And I've never had signed up for an Opera browser account. Is there anyway to recover my saved bookmarks?

    Thank you.

  • I don't know what it means either, BUT... I always back-up [copy somewhere] my three (3) bookmark files located in the WIN7 User App Data Roaming folder. Many times on a reformat I have then 'surgically' inserted them into the same NEWLY installed folder; perfect.

I'd suggest you look there for those THREE.... Keep 'Em !

  • What's your browser version, Mr Dracula?

  • Alright, so I'm pretty sure I found what you mean, and the three files are: "Bookmarks" "Bookmarks.bak" and "BookmarksExtras"

And these exist in AppData>Roaming>Opera Software>Opera Stable.

So, if just email these to myself, I can "surgically insert" into my home PC, I can get all the bookmarks back?

I just double checking everything to be sure.

  • YUP! Those are the ones, Old Boy. Yes, they are just files you can E-Mail, just like JPGs, etc.

When I've done a re-install I usually go to that App Data folder, create a new folder I call STOCK BMs, drag the ones Opera initially put there up into that new folder, then copy and past the Three in. That permits me to revert to 'Stock' if I wanted to, not merely overwriting Stock with The Three...

    You are in Fat-City..........

  • Awesome. Can't wait to try it when I get home. Thanks so much!

  • My pleasure............... especially if it works for you like it does for me!

Great to finally have something to GIVE....
