Location of New Bookmarks

I made a folder on the bookmark bar where I want all my new bookmarks to be saved. I saved a bookmark, choosing that folder, and I was pleased to see that the same folder was automatically selected when saving subsequent bookmarks. Even after restarting the browser. However, it seems like I was just lucky for those first few bookmarks, because now it seems to want to save new bookmarks to either my folder or "Unsorted Bookmarks" at random. It's completely unpredictable. I don't want to have to manually check/select the appropriate target folder for bookmarks every time I save one. Is there any explanation for it's inconsistent behaviour?
