I'd like to be able to create an icon on the home screen of my phone that opens Opera for Android directly to a new tab with my Speed Dials showing.

It's annoying when I want to open a new tab from the home screen of my phone to have to first see (and often reload) whatever I was looking at last in Opera.

I use Nova Launcher on Android 5.1. Opera 34.

      Thanks.

If you exit the app using the exit option in the menu it will open to the Speed Dial screen when you re-launch it.

True. But it's an extra step and it closes all tabs when exiting.

I'd like to be able keep tabs open for when I want to go back to them AND have a way to go straight to a new tab when I want to quickly look something up.

As an alternative to going to Speed Dial, I'd be happy with going to a new tab that doesn't start with a superfluous Internet search before I can do anything.

Even a shortcut on my home screen to Google takes several seconds to load before I can put in my search terms.

          Thanks.

Depends on what version of Android you are using. My phone is pretty much stock Android and having set opera as default browser, a swipe up from the bottom in any screen launches opera directly into speed dial with the search bar focused and keyboard ready to go.

If it's that important to you you can search for how to install stock Android
