Is there any way to disable auto-updating to new versions?

While I was thinking about whether or not to update to Opera 34, I was disturbed to find that the decision had been made for me, with no prompting as to whether I wanted it, and no notification that it was being done or had been done. I only noticed because the label on the desktop icon changed from "Opera 33" to "Opera 34".
This, IMO, is Not Good. After looking at the changelog, I might have updated to 34 ... eventually, though I saw no pressing need to do so. However, I want that to be my decision, so is there some way to keep it from happening when I don't want it to?
