Opera 18 for Android

I decided to give the "new Opera" another try to see if there's at least been some improvement, but no. It still seems to be every bit as unusable as it was six months ago: incredibly slow, poor rendering, terrible scrolling and panning, unreliable text wrapping, and still lacking even the most basic functions of a web browser, such as bookmarks. If this is the pace of progress, then I think I've lost all hope of this POS being able to catch up with Opera 12 during this decade, not to mention offer any improvement over it.

+1 sadly (and I've had a deep love for the Opera Mobile browsers over many years)
Hey Presto! Where art thou?

I tried a lesser known browser called Next browser and its a opera lookalike. Although I must mention that the way pages are cached in Next is definitely better than Opera. I understand that pages are pushed out of memory when it gets full but Opera takes longer to reload them, Next had the pages reloaded in a blink of an eye. Why can't Opera implement that feature?

Go Next Browser is not Chromium-based.

I can't agree.
The engine has the same problems as the stock browser in my device and it already crashed in a quick test. Not even going to judge UI and Go Team. -

Still no Legacy Bookmarks folder on the Speed Dial in the latest update.
To have legacy bookmarks in Opera Browser.
- Download and install Opera Mobile 12.1.14 This isn't in the Play Store any more, you have to download it and sideload it.
- Run Opera Mobile, enable Opera Link (Menu > Settings > Opera Link) and wait for it to finish synchronizing
- Install Opera Browser from the Play Store, your Opera Link bookmarks will be in a Speed Dial folder called "Legacy Bookmarks

and I knew it already 'but it seems impossible not to be able to add a new page for quick access, without going through the old program.
Bookmarks are an important thing in a browser

After the latest update, Opera has started to crash immediately upon clicking a speed dial.
This is on Galaxy S2.

I notice a incompatibility issue with Adblocker. Whenever it is on, the browser crashes constantly. It doesn't even let you report the crash.

I don't have any adblocker installed.
Played around with Titanium Backup. Clearing app data -> Opera works again. Restoring app data -> it crashes (just quits) right after ANY ui stuff is done. Even opening the menu with the red O will cause a hang&quit.
So, the latest opera 18 will corrupt your profile, beware!
I'm not too happy about this, as there is no way to sync speed dials (=bookmarks), this will cause quite a few hours of time to get right

I hope future versions of Opera for Android will incorporate better usage of the Opera Link feature.

No support for Android Gingerbread ?
So what's the point of this release anyway?
