Bookmark problem

I closed Opera 12.10 (on Mac 10.5.8) and when I reopened minutes after I saw the browser with default settings. All tabs were closed and the browser showed a message for the first-time user instead. The browser looked as if I have just installed Opera for the first time.
And worst of all, my current bookmarks exchanged for those I had had in 2008. I opened /Users/user/Library/Opera/bookmarks.adr, hoping all my current bookmarks were there, but the file contained those bookmarks from 2008.
Do you know if there's still some possibility to restore a newer bookmark file? Or is everything lost?
