all incoming mails doubled

  • I have just installed Opera Mail (as an update to the old Opera 12) and all of my new emails come doubled. Also, a few hours after installing it, ALL of my old emails came a second time, which took a while to erase. Obviously I have some setting wrong, but what? Any ideas?

  • In Opera Mail, goto "Menu -> help -> about Opera Mail" and take note of the mail folder and preferences folder. Do the same in Opera 12. Then, rename the "mail" folder for Opera Mail.

    With them both closed, copy the "mail" folder, contacts.adr, wand.dat and operaprefs.ini from Opera 12 to the corresponding locations for Opera Mail. Then, edit operaprefs.ini for Opera Mail and remove any line that has a path in it.

    Then, when you start Opera Mail, things will be just like they were in Opera 12 with mail. If you still get duplicates that way, that means something was corrupted in Opera 12 in the first place (whether or not you actually saw any problems). In that case, you have to rename the mail folder, start Opera, set up all your accounts again and import POP messages back in.

  • Thank you burnout426. Unfortunately, that can't be the answer, because Opera 12 is no longer there. However, this much I did discover - the doubled emails that arrive are arriving from my two different email addresses (at the same provider), so it's definitely just an issue of the right settings.
